Falling Forward

I love fall . . . . it is my favorite time of year. I think because I live in such a warm place that the crispness of fall just does something to me. Kinda like spring is for others. I have my new beginning in fall - I do my spring-cleaning in fall - I find fall to be a final breath of fresh air after being sealed in AC for so many months.

Maybe I enjoy fall because I am in the fall of my life. If you look at life as starting in spring (birth, childhood, college) and then moving to summer (growth, marriage, kids), the next step in my life is fall. It's a beginning in many ways as I get ready to be an empty nester. And, given all I have been through in these past 3 to 4 years (divorce) it's time for a new beginning. I am not so sure I was ready for anything new but I feel it is time . . .it's time to put steps in motion.

Fall cleaning is no different than spring. It's an opportunity to take stock, look and see what is working and what isn't . . . .whatever isn't, then it's time to go. Whatever is dirty and grimy - look at closely. Do you try to clean or do you replace? What effort are you willing to put into the project?

I can see clearer now that fall is here. The haze is lifted and what seemed unclear is able to be viewed with a sharpness and more depth. I anxiously await to smell fires, to tailgate, to cheer on a football team, to wear a hat CW knitted and boots . . .let us not forget the power that boots bring. I'm ready full a full-bodied red, and a hearty stew and a harvest moon.

Fall is a wonderful time of year and I needed it to happen. Luckily for me it's a little early this year. Fall is my time - time for reflection, time to plan and to move forward. It's exciting and I hope it's exciting for you too!
